Day 5 - June 5

I left Watson Lake toward Whitehorse, YT. It was an overcast day, not really threatening rain, just dark and gray. The terrain was much the same as it has been since Grande Prairie - gentle hills and rocky terrain.

The plan was to reach Whitehorse early enough to get new tires mounted before I went to bed, since tomorrow I would be arriving at the beginning of the Dempster Highway. I found out later that the Whitehorse downtown is going through a revitalization of sorts and it has displaced a lot of the locals from their favorite hangouts. Many of them just hang around outside the hotel at night. I take everything in at night, but leave a couple of Touratech bags mounted to the crash bars. There is nothing valuable in these bags, but I guess one of the locals found some value in toilet paper, insect repellant and camp food. everything else that was in the bags was strewn over the parking lot, but those three items were missing. I hope they enjoy the dehydrated beef patties and beef stew.

Total mileage today: 275.
